the work at home mom looks forward to pilates
Yep! I look forward to my Pilates class every week now - it's like a good break from the home office. Initially I thought it was going to be a slow and easy fitness class but I wasn't so right after all.
Though 'slow', Pilates movements can be challenging when those you can start to work on those unused small muscles. The core muscles on the thighs, legs and abs were strengthened from those slow and controlled movements... the repetitions may be minimal but they really tire you out!
One thing I know, you won't need diet pills for sure if you get serious with Pilates workouts especially if on the Pilates reformer.
Pilates is also good for work at home moms who sit alot in the home office or for anyone who stands and sits most hours of the day. The workouts help to strengthen the back and maintain body balance.
So, now you know why the work at home mom can't wait for her next pilates class... now, she's looking forward to another new fitness program. Coming up soon!

thinking about pilates
One of the best reasons to start a Pilates program is that your own abilities control how fast you advance in the program. Your own strength and fitness will control how you do each exercise; you only do what you can. Unlike weight training, Pilates is not based on gaining a certain amount of muscle mass. The main goal of Pilates is the general improvement in health, with increased flexibility, increases muscle tone, and reduced stress. Pilates is more about mental than physical control.
Maybe I should start looking for a qualifed instructor for pilates.

Get those sexy legs with Leg Magic!

All in the name of fitness and vanity... last Friday, we bought the Leg Magic Machine. What is that? You wonder. Well, this is a machine that helps to work towards those sexy legs in a month! All you need is a minute, a few times a day on the Leg Magic and the lateral gliding motion helps to work the muscles on those inner and outer thighs as well as those hard to tone buttocks and abs!
At first, I found it hard to believe so I got on the Leg Magic and tried it out. In just 30 secs, I could feel that my inner thighs were tired. I was feeling a little embarrassed but knew this was one cool machine to tone up those muscles before I head to Hawaii in December!
For the past 2 days, I could only manage 2 minutes (with intervals) and I could feel the aches this morning - ouch! Unlike the stepper or a stationary bicycle which you can use for 20-30 minutes, it is not possible to do the Leg Magic for 20 minutes. You could not do the Leg Magic for 2 minutes. But what I like about it is you can do the Leg Magic with the TV, place it in the kitchen while waiting for your soup to boil or put it in the home office when you need that time out from the computer. Priced at $130, Leg Magic is portable and can be set up in seconds and be folded away for easy storage. If you are keen, Click on the Image below to learn more.

get your Tae Bo AMPED now!
I just learnt about Tae Bo program yesterday. Founder of Tae Bo, Billy Blanks has such an inspiring story to tell. I was surprised to hear that even DH knew about Tae Bo fitness programs.
In Korean language, “Tae” means “foot and leg” and “Bo” actually refers to “box” in short. This is a no-nonsense program that uses a combination of exercises including self-awareness and control of martial arts, the focus and strength of boxing, and the grace and rhythm of dance to provide you an overall body workout.
Tae Bo programs focus on the physical as well as the mental aspects of your entire being. It is not just about losing those weight but the program helps you to develop self-confidence, discipline, develop speed, strength and the ability to quicken your reflexes. I spent some time on watching the animated and exciting video - the testimonials were great. I have friends who are health conscious, who buy anything related to health, including pulse oximeter to them!
Here is Billy Blanks’ Tae Bo AMPED

Get Active - Exercise!
I used to be an exercise ‘freak’ before I became a mum. I’m familiar with gym classes and going to the gym was part of my lifestyle.
Somehow, parenting commitments have affected my fitness priorities and I am still working on fitting a gym class into my current schedule.
Research has shown that your longevity is increased by two hours for every hour of exercise. Isn’t that powerful? I am a believer of being active and regular exercise. It helps lift my spirit up, improves my mood and most of all, keeps me healthy.
And I even read that exercise helps to eliminate constipation!
The benefits of exercise are more than this post can contain. To name some to keep in mind:
• It produces stronger bones, ligaments and tendons
• Enhances posture, posie and physique
• Strengthens heart functions
• Improves oxygen delivery throughout the body
• Lowers blood pressure
• Reduces heart disease risk
• Prevents osteoporosis
• Improves immune function
• Helps lower blood cholesterol and triglycerides
• Increases endurance and energy levels
• Helps reduce tension and anxiety
• Relaxes and improves sleep
Going to a gym seems to be a 'trendy' thing lately. Lots of fitness centres have opened up in the last 3 years. Big names such as Fitness First and California fitness, and the latest hype, yoga centres.
A good friend of mine just signed up a personal training course to get all trimmed for her wedding next May. Personal training isn't a new thing among fitness women these days. And this is especially ideal for anyone struggling to lose weight or needed someone to offer motivation and professional training guidance.
Apart from exercise, diet is equally important if you are working towards losing weight.
For exercise to be truly effective and enjoyable, it must not be a ‘burden’. Find something fun to do. Enjoy it! It doesn’t need to be vigorous. Focus on the word: Activity, not exercise.
