I got my Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens!

Finally, I collected my Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras - it feels so exciting to try out a new lens! Though I do wish to add on a zoom lens in the near future, the Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens is what I can afford for now!

After reading so many reviews in and around the web and discussions among Nikon DSLR users, I trust that the Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens is a compact and fast lens that is perfect for travel and portrait pictures, as well as general photography / f/1.8D / 50mm / Compatible with 52mm Filters Stops down to f/22 for excellent depth-of-field control. Photographing portraits and objects in close range is what I'm passionate about and I can't wait to snap some more shots of my little model at home. Plus, the Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras happens to the favourite lens of many Nikon DSLR photographers! With 186 positive 5-star ratings review in Amazon, it sure is a good Nikkor Lens for enthusiastic portrait photographers!

"This is the lens to get for any Nikon SLR, from the simple N75 all the way to the Digital D70. It's faster than a zoom and much, much sharper. That's right, no zooming! If you want to make the image bigger, move closer. Want to make a wider view? Step back. This is the lens that all photographers should start with. Most of Henri Cartier Bresson's photos were taken with a 50mm lens. It forces you to think about perspective, composition, and arrangement. You can take more pictures without the intrusive light of a flash. It's cheap too. This lens is a classic and will make you a better photographer by enabling you to make creative choices. It works on almost every Nikon ever made. What more do you need to know? Get one." ~ R. Rosener "Photomatic", St. Louis, MO United States

my dream gadget

Adam tagged me on a dream gadget meme. Well, I have to confess that I have been thinking hard on this one cos I'm not that kind who have a strong passion in buying the latest digital or electronic device. Sometimes, I do go 'woo' and 'wah' at those cool and sleek looking mobile phones, Apple products and digital cameras but I won't bother finding out more about them unless I am planning to buy them.

I do love to get a new mobile phone to replace my present Nokia 6300. I almost bought the Nokia N95 but changed my mind after buying my Cartier Roadster. Last week, I read about the Nokia N96 and it looked like a chic gadget to have but since it will only be launched next half of the year, I'm in no hurry. Then again, I may consider the Apple iPhone but though I'm a Mac user, I'm not all crazy about it.

During Chinese New Year, a family friend's son was snapping shots of Clayton with his cool Nikon SLR Digital camera. I didn't have the model no. but it was real cool. It wasn't one of those cheaper ones cos I was told that it cost him over S$2K! After that short chat with the 17 year old teenager, I felt that it might be time for me to check out the SLR digital cameras... the only thing is, I don't see myself lugging it during our family vacations! I have too much to pack and carry when traveling with a preschooler.

So, I'm that simple gal who is not an ardent digital gadget fan. I tend to think hard and thrice before investing in these expensive digital stuff since they go out of date very very fast.

What about you? What is your dream gadget or do you have any dream gadgets?

N95 for me?

I'm all keen to check out the Nokia N95 8 gb phone. The thing that attracts me most is the 5 megapix camera features. That would mean I can whip out my phone to capture any shot and send it straight to my blogs! The only thing is the price and the many features which I wouldn't utilize. Besides, I'm not sure if it will serve the purpose of recording my contacts data like a PDA. It's retailing at RM3,099 in M'sia and RM1,198 in Singapore - what a price difference, ya? Hmm... it's quite a splurge for me so I definitely have to think carefully and thoroughly :)

are you into skins?

In the last few weeks, I have been reading reviews and asking friends about PDA phones and such. I'm planning to upgrade my cell phone and being someone who is not so updated on the tech news, I prefer to check out users' reviews and recommendations. These days, a cell phone is more than just a communication device. We can see it in our lifestyle and many people will take great lengths to beautify their digital devices like buying cell phone skins, mp3 skins, laptop skins, Xbox skins and more. if you take a look at skinit, you will be lost with so many different skins designs, depending on what you want to use to reflect your personality and style. Looks like I should consider getting one for my Macbook Pro...

I want a set of bose speakers?

If you are a big fan of music and quality sound, then I'm sure you'll love to have a set of Bose speakers, don't you? We passed by an AV shop this afternoon and was so impressed with the latest Bose speakers which were sleek, stylish and revolutionary. As with most high quality digital and electronic products, we knew these didn't come cheap. But seriously, if we move into our new place in years to come, I must convince DH to get a set of these awesome speakers for our family room. It's such a great companion for home theaters.

high definition footages for sale

I've always been asked on why I didn't enter the field of advertising but graphic design. Though I adore advertising design, I didn't fancy the culture and lifestyle of the industry. I'm still captivated by TV commercial and creative animations on the screen, especially the latest 3D graphics that added so much reality and attraction to modern cinematography. What I've just discovered is that advertising agencies and production houses can now purchase high definition footages from HD Stock Video Library. These footages from AlwaysHD are contributed by professional cinematographers and are available for sale on the website. Clients can search for special footage for their use in their commercials or production since these footages are royalty free once purchased, which allow the flexibility of use for any kind of work.

plasma televisions high in demand

Eversince Clayton came along, I hardly watched TV like in those days. I have forsook my favourite CSI series, Amercian Idol and even my travel programs. But every now and then, I'll still relax over a DVD with DH who still enjoys his daily programs. That's the reason why he can never not stop at a Plasma TV promotion in electrical shops or road shows. I know he still likes to get one for the house. These days, plasma televisions have become some of the most demanded types of televisions ever to hit the market. Various big manufacturers such as LG Phillips, Sony, Westinghouse Digital, Samsung, Sharp Corporation, and others have competitively introduced their own versions and developments of plasma televisions.

If you do have plasma television at home, I'm sure you may be keen to check out quality plasma lcd wall mount brackets by Dekomount. This is one name that stresses on quality and safety. As the online store is new, be prepared to see some features of plasma and LCD wall brackets and accessories from them.

i need a traveling laptop

Now that I'm spending so much time blogging, I'm thinking of getting a lighter laptop for traveling purpose but a decision like this seems extravagant :P A friend was recommending the use of pocket PC since it's knowingly smaller in size and light enough to be tucked inside a carry on bag. Besides, Pocket PCs are becoming very popular these days because they are so handy to have and make things so very convenient. They have the ability to support a vast range of different types of multimedia features, which is what attracts so many excited customers, ready to enjoy all that a Pocket PC has to offer.

Looks like I have more research to do before investing in deciding what's best for my use and lifestyle.

a cool device named Temperature@lert

I used to work in a multimedia environment where the room is dark most of the time with servers, computers, 3D graphic machine, printers all housed in one place. The only reason why I quit working in a place like that was because I could not withstand the stuffiness and the heat on those days when the air con failed to work. I only wished the Temperature@lert USB Sensor with Email Alerts was invented at that time as it would help to monitor the temperature of the multimedia room and avoid those discomforts. It was unpleasant to work in a room like that and somehow, the boss didn't think it was a big problem.

Temperature@lert is linked to the PC via a USB port and will alert the user via a windows application when the temperature is not within your desired range.

I thought it would be great to use this in a flower cold room or an organic shop cold room where coolness is key to the freshness of the products. This can help to keep products at optimum quality and the owner can be alerted should anything go wrong the temperature of the cold room.

the BEST in Dish Network Satellite TV

In our of my earlier posts, I wrote about the battle between the two 'boys' in my house, one is three years old and the other is in his 40s. Somehow or rather, they both were 'quarelling' over the satellite TV and insist on watching each's favourite program.

It's amazing how Dish TV has played such an important role in our lives today, especially if you are staying in a country with lousy local channels. But today, I was shocked by an attractive and 'hard to resist' Dish Network Satellite TV Summer Special. This company is giving away up to $1,399 freebies! protect your TV

During our recent trip to Singapore, we witnessed the launch of the world's largest Plasma TV (102") by Samsung at vivo city. While I'm not a big fan of huge TVs, I must admit this one is impressive and the screen image is crystal clear. But how is anyone going to transport this to an apartment, I wonder? So like what dh says, you better have a big luxury home to house this expensive gadget!

Let's not be extreme. I'm sure at 32" or 40" is suffice for most TV enthusiasts. But if I decide to invest in a plasma or flat screen TV, I would make sure I buy a pixelprotector DVD to ensure tip top picture quality as the DVD is able to fix dead pixels, remove screen burns, and calibrate the screen to its optimum performance, and also preserve the life span of your TV.

To use it is as simple as playing a CD as PixelProtector is designed with home users in mind. Moreover, an investment of only $39.95 that includes delivery worldwide, it is worth every cent to protect your TV, ensure optimum screen display and can even be used on laptops too!

Print your own CD and DVD

I have no idea how CDs and DVDs are printed until I come across this website that specializes on CD/DVD Printer, CD/DVD Publisher and CD/DVD Duplicator. With the XInt Idea Nexis 100AP Printer, 50 discs can be printed easily with a simple operation. This is great for churches, schools, internet marketers and training companies. with this compact desktop printer, you can save on supplier mark ups and waiting time. Moreover, the inkjet cartridges are easily available.

A pink RAZR cell phone for mum

My mum is not a techno savvy person and I don't expect her to be, really. She's in her 50s, close to retirement, grown up in those days where having a TV set in the house is a luxury... I mean, what do you expect?

2 years ago, she picked up a phone while walking home from work. She was so excited that she called my brother right away to ask what to do. You need to know that my mum has never owned a cell phone. After careful instructions from my brother, she bought herself a pre-paid calling card and started learning how to use a cell phone. I was happy that she had finally learnt how to use a cell phone. For a long time, I had wanted to buy her a phone but she just refused. It was something to do with the fear of the unfamiliar!

Well, it's Mother's day this weekend. I am just wondering if I should get her a new phone to replace this old one. Apparently, I can get a brand new FREE free RAZR cell phone with a new Cingular wireless account! And it's mum's favourite colour: pink! How nice! How timely! And here's another BONUS! - a Motorola H3 Grey Bluetooth Headset worth $70! What a deal!

A digital photo frame for my mum

Since I started blogging actively, I would make a conscious effort to bring my digital camera wherever I go. I like to capture candid shots of Clayton and other special moments with loved ones and friends.

I love capturing photos of Clayton with my mum and I know she enjoys it too. But I have a problem. As I often take continuous candid shots, it is expensive to process all the digital photos into prints. My mum doesn't have a computer and I don't travel with my laptop either. Due to that, I will only develop a few photos for mum and she would be questioning me on the other shots taken.

It looks like I have found a solution for this now! I can buy her a digital photo frame! With that, I could just load the memory card into the frame and she can view ALL the photos I've taken. These digital frames are available in various sizes and designs, depending on your preference and needs.

This is such a nice idea as it will also keep her 'company' since she doesn't get to see Clayton and me that often. With a digital photo frame, I don't have to worry about processing photos, hurdling my laptop and I can make mum happy.

I got a new digital camera

I just bought a new digital camera. After all the research and careful consideration, I finally settled for a Canon Ixus 850IS 7.1 megapixel digital camera. I have been concerned about getting a good camera which can take nice and sharp indoor and night photos.

I heard about the Fujifilm 31 fd which won raves and faves from media reviews but surprisingly, this camera is 'obsolete' in Malaysia. In Singapore, it is at a price tag of S$530 and Malaysia, RM1,300! What I don't understand is the latest 8.3 megapix 40fd is actually cheaper than the 31 fd which is only 6.1 megapix.

Thanks to the media reviews, which keeps the older version at a higher price as it is proven, tried and tested, as compared to the latest and powerful version.

After comparing the photos from the Panasonic Lumix and Canon, I chose the Canon. DH thinks it feels better in his chunky fingers though I love the sleek design of the Lumix and what more, it uses Leica lens!

But well, I'm happy with the Canon still - not complaining...

Can't wait to get the latest iPhone

When news of the Apple iPhone was first released in the local newsapapers, it initiated waves of excitement among both Mac users and the mobile community. My husband brought me the news first thing on that morning and was I thrilled... after looking at the iPhone photo - YES! In fact, I just blogged about it in my shopping blog two years ago.

Now, AT & T's acquisition of Cingular is intended to bring a revolution to the digital wireless network community and to kick that off, the collaboration with Apple iPhone. Cingular has the largest mobile coverage in the US and offers the widest GSM/GPRS network across the nation. Launching the Apple iPhone under the name of Cingular phones spells an unparallel partnership in assuring customers the best wireless coverage and support.

Having the largest international coverage of any U.S. wireless carrier allows Cingular customers the connectivity to six continents in 190 countries. So with the latest in design and best in digital wireless network combined together - it is almost a formidable collaboration.

OK.. let's look at some feature highlights of the Apple iPhone and you may be convinced why is it causing such a hype in the digital world. With With a sleek body and a high-tech touch-screen interface, the iPhone combines its chic design with next-generation cell phone functionality. It serves as a wide-screen iPod with 4 GB of storage space for music and video, performs desktop tasks, and delivers all cell phone advanced features.

Check these cool portable hard drives out!

My husband is going to love this! He has been contemplating on buying a portable hard drive to store his e-books, digital videos and internet marketing resources but he is complaining about how boring most of hard drives look.

Not only are these Pexagon Store-It Colors range of portable hard drives convenient, sleek, handy, affordable, they come in 5 trendy colours for your pick. While I find the red one is stunning, I know my husband would prefer the black or metallic silver.

Believe it or not - the 100Gb ones only cost $99 and you can even engraved your logo and name of this cool gadget. Just when my blogging buddies are complaining that I don't feature men's stuff in my shopping blog, this one will be making its way in the wish list for men.
