Have you ever bought used or refurbished IT products? Generally, I would prefer to buy brand new equipment if the price difference is slight as new items come with a guarantee and the risk tends to be minimal.
This opinion can be argued if the cost of the used IT product is the fraction of the brand new one. Take for instance, a used server with quality performance can save you big money over the new. It is however important to purchase from a reliable and reputable supplier. Ask the supplier to put in writing that the hardware is original and be eligible for any maintenance from the manufacturer. If possible, ask for credit terms so that you can test the equipment performance before you buy.
