Romance starts here...

I am sitting here wondering... what is the most romantic experience I have ever had? I am quite 'big' on romance in my younger days (not that I'm that old now!) and I am swept by love notes, sweet nothings and gestures of love.

I am hopeless in writing love poems but I can be creative in warming a person's heart, if I really want to... and yes, I can say that I am truly a romantic person. My first boyfriend was a romantic guy (not sure if he is now...) but I recalled those short love poems that could send tears streaming down my cheeks. The most romantic thing I ever did was to send him a Garfield postcard 'everyday' when he was in Taiwan for army training for a couple of weeks. Everyday, I would send a different postcard and I would just grabbed any card with Garfield in the store at that time. I wonder if he still keep those postcards though...

Know what, I think romance starts from heart. If you are not that romantic sort but like to be one, take heart! Here's one romantic story to get you inspired and if you need more ideas, you can read more stories and love letters along the way.

Are you 'big' on romance as well? If yes, what is the MOST romantic thing you have done for someone you love?

Life as single parents

Life as Single Parents is never an easy one. Jane* is a single mom of 4 children, the youngest being 2 years old, when her dear husband lost his life heart attack 9 years ago. My own uncle lost his wife to breast cancer 4 years ago, leaving behind 3 young children.

It usually take a while before any single parent starts to meet new people or date again. The pain experienced requires time to heal and the support of family and friends play a great part in achieving that. I'm glad that 2 years ago, Jane remarried to a good guy who got along so well with her children. Today, she is a happy mum of another new baby on the way.

How is your heart today?

Alex and myself have been married for coming seven years. Is it a bed of roses? No. And many of you married women would agree with me that it usually isn't. I had a conversation with a close friend last week and she asked if I would still make the same martial decision 7 years ago. She told me she would think twice and so would some of her women friends. I thought about it and told her that I would because there would never be the perfect guy.

I'm a realistic person and will deal with relationship problems squarely and openly, I prefer not to hide and sweep under the carpet. I'm glad that there are more helpful resources in the internet offering Relationship Advice for Women. Basically, conflicts arise because women don't understand men and vice versa. As the saying goes, it takes two hands to clap so it does require efforts from both sides to make things work - in all relationships - husband and wife, and courting couples.

What are your thoughts?
