long weekend for the work at home mom

After a long and busy week, it's time for a break from the home office.

The challenge of a work at home mom is to clearly detach herself from the home office during the weekends. It's tempting to stay in the home office a little longer and forget about spending quality time with the family. These days, I make a conscious effort to spend less time in the home office during the weekends.

Perhaps that's the reason why some work at home moms take a longer holiday at the end of the year so that they could officially take a break from the home office. I recalled checking on extended stay hotels during long school holidays. With the current economic situation, it's probably wise to travel regionally and take a break from long haul vacations too.

So it's long weekend here in Malaysia, more reason for the work at home moms to take an extended break from the home office. Have a good weekend.

Loving this home business

Allow me to drift back to 2003 when we started our seminar business from home. At that time, DH and myself were still dealing with the debts from our failed restaurant business and we were wearied, disheartened and despondent.

After attending a life motivational seminar in Singapore, I left for Hong Kong for a networking opportunity and that trip was the turning point of our careers, and marks the chapter of our home based business. It was a dream we were desired for a long time but never in our wildest dreams would we think it can come to pass - so fast!

We organized our first event with Ron Kaufman on UP Your Service in 2003 and that marked our success with a record of 1,200 participants packed in the grand ballroom of a hotel. Since, we had been running at least two events a year and to date, we had 8 successful events with top speakers from around the world.

This year, we started exploring someInternet Business Opportunities after attending a couple of Internet Marketing workshops ourselves. As we plan to migrate in a few years' time, we hope to develop multiple streams of income and one of the opportunities would be internet and affiliate marketing. With the internet business, we can continue to enjoy the pleasure of working from home and appreciate this gift of time of full time parenting.

The blessing of being a WAHM

I have been work at home mom since 2003. And life couldn't be better since.

Though I have to balance between the distractions of home and the load of work I have to accomplish, it's still better than being stuck in the traffic jam at 8am in the morning.

Well, it's not just about the traffic... it's actually time savings. If you live in Kuala Lumpur, you know what I mean. This urban city is known for peak hour traffic and you are likely to be caught in the traffic for 2 hours when a truck breaks down or a heavy downpour.

Working in my P.J. is just another added bonus but I prefer to be neatly dressed - it's a psychological thing. You tend to be more focused! I value productivity and working at home allows to accomplish much more in the day.

The most rewarding of all for me now as a Work-At-Home-Mom is the ability to spend quality time with Clayton, my 2 year old. Nothing is better than watching him grow and being there for him. Yes, there are challenges of striking the balancing act. You can't avoid frustrations and temptations but hey, you are the master of your own time.
