christian art exhibition at Gallery Dunia Seni Lukis

Not too long ago, I posted a short buzz on Faces and Places photography exhibition. This morning, I met one of the owners of Art Malaysia during a brunch at a new tim sum restaurant - Jin Xuan Hong Kong Tim Sum. Audrey, also my cell host was thanking me for posting a link for Galeri Dunia Seni Lukis. To my pleasant surprise, she had also started a couple of blogs.

This evening, I also found out that the owner of Art Malaysia had started a blog early this month - congrats Bro Kian and welcome to the wonderful world of blogging! Art Malaysia is hosting a Christian art exhibition on 19 July to raise funds for Harapan Komuniti Bhd. Featuring artists from Indonesia, Philippines, Korea & Malaysia, the paintings carry the theme of God's Creation & Worship. To read about the inspiration and birth of this art exhibition, nobody tells it better than Bro Kian himself. This man sure has a heart for the needy of this country.

Talk art, talk expression

Alot of my friends expect me to paint well, just because I study graphic designer. Little do they know that art and design are quite different in its own right. I love acrylic paintings but am just never cut out for fine art painting.

Personally, I'm attracted to vibrant colours and abstract compositions, textures and form appeal strongly to me, just like the art of Russian Artist Victor Lysakov, whose works have recently been introduced to the American art lovers. His modern expressionist paintings triggers thoughts, induce curiosity and bring a sense of mystery to some. From his works, I can see his appreciation for animals, creatures, nature, traditional and modern motifs. The forms are bold and each art exudes its own space, depth and expression.

I may not know how to paint well but I enjoy seeing blended tones and shades of colours transformed into a totally new art form while the subject matter depict life and its unique meaning. If you share my love for expressionist paintings, this page shoes some of my favourites by the gifted artist, Victor Lysakov.

Artisans in the marketplace

Calling all artists and artisans - this is a fantastic online marketplace for you to create and sell your products. If you are passionate about creating a piece of jewelry or handcrafting a bag, a brooch, a skirt, an artistic top or even making soaps, this is the time to showcase your products and sell your art online.

Personally, I adore creative and artistic things. I enjoy buying handmade items because they are unique and one of a kind. You risk the danger of spotting someone with the same necklace or carrying the tote bag as you! You can be different - and that's me. I still can't shake off the designer karma in me (lol). I'm going to be talking more about these independent artisans in my shopping blog - look out for it!

American posters of all sorts

I was doing my usual surfing on a lazy Sunday afternoon and came across a US website featuring patriotic posters of all sorts. From the stars and stripes of the American flag to the famous Statue of Liberty, scenic landscapes of Yosemite Park or panoramic views of American cities, historic buildings, contemporary art or vintage American art, there is a wide selection of quality posters of practically any theme under the sun.
