Work at Home Mom on Age Spots

I've never been very concerned about aging until I spotted a few brown spots on my face lately. When you are a work at home mom, you have a bit more time in front of the mirror so when there's a new spot on your face, it is noticeable!

Well, work aside, beauty is a big concern whether you are a work at home mom or a corporate working mom. No woman likes to have an age spot appearing on the face or body, it can be very disturbing. Since I discovered those brown spots, I have been searching for a good product for it. Many of the these spot fading products contain chemicals which may be harmful for the skin. As such, I try to turn to organic or natural ones. I just bought an organic spot fader from Camocare Organics and would monitor the results in the next few weeks.

One good thing about working at home is that I don't go out much and thus, I can avoid the harmful sun rays which is the cause for brown and age spots. Then again, working at home does require me to faithfully put on my sunblock as the light rays can also affect skin pigmentation.

Enough on age spots and beauty, I have two more days of rest before the real work begins next week. For now, it's TGIF!

i've become a la mer devotee :P

Since my US trip, I have been a La Mer devotee and have indulged in a range of La Mer products from the signature Creme de La Mer to the latest whitening collection. If you live in the US, the prices are considerably 'ok' since a jar of creme de la mer can last you 3 -6 months. I don't think I need to tell you the 'wonders' of the product as they can be read in the official website of La Mer but if you ask my personal review, then I would tell you it's one fabulous product.

Being fabulous doesn't mean it works for everyone. I realize that I can't use the creme on my T zone since I have combination skin but if you like to give this popular product a go, try out the La mer moisturizing gel or lotion. The texture is lighter and it smooths on the skin perfectly. I know it's quite a splurge for some people but if you ask me, you are young only once so why not give it a try?

received another set of mineral makeup samples!

Woohoo! I just received another pack of multiple use mineral makeup samples today! This set came in a neat packaging and not those packed in tiny plastic bags. As usual, I'll be testing out the various ones first before doing a proper product review - this is exciting, inspiring and good fun!

beauty review: my monave lip glaze

See, I don't put on makeup in the weekdays unless I'm out for a lunch appointment or to meet a client. Having a home office means I've saved time and money on makeup and all. So when the weekends is here, I like to experiment with my mineral makeup palette.

One of my favourites are putting on and mixing lip glosses and colours for the lips. I have some nice lip glosses and glazes from Monave Mineral make up and if you haven't tried mineral makeup, you should. Sharen sent me the mini Mango Glaze and Allure Glaze, both belonging to the family of browns, which happen to be my colour tones. What I like about Monave lip glazes is that they are vegan and give a natural finish. You can wear it on its own for a relaxed weekend and let the bronzer or blusher on your cheeks shine. If you need a little more colour, brush it on top of your lip colour, a light one for the day or a darker shade for the night.

With mineral make up , you can be versatile and experimental. Vegan means it's made without animal by-products, including beeswax and carmine, yet full of sweet shine. Monave has four types of lip products - lip tint, lip gloss, lip glaze and lipstick. According to owner Sharen, "Lip tints give a sheer wash of color to the lips for a natural look. Lip glosses give more color than the tints and they are incredibly long wearing. The lip glazes are the most pigmented of the three and deliver rich colors with incredible shine and moisture."

I can't wait to try out new shades from Monave's lip products selection.

This lady has such great skin at her age and this makes me want to find out more about this professional organic skincare range created by her ten years ago.

hair loss problem, anyone?

Sometimes I still get stares from onlookers when I'm out with DH. I don't think they are looking at me but his baldness. Like alot of men who have had hair loss problems, DH used to try out many hair loss treatments but to no avail. Worst still, he had to bear with the stinking herbs on his head which he abhorred.

Take a look around and you notice that hair loss problems are on the rise, whether it's caused by genetics, one's diet or lifestyle. It is interesting to hear that there is a hair transplant in south florida who does things a little differently from other hair loss treatment centres. Dr Shapiro believes in consulting one on one with his clients to provide a personal and accurate analysis. While explaining the hair transplant surgery, you can even request to witness an actual surgical procedure or speak to his patients to gain a better understanding of the process. I haven't actually come across this unique style of marketing but personally, I believe providing accurate information to clients will increase the credibility of the clinic.

request for free beauty samples

Have you heard of free beauty samples before? If you have, have you been requesting them whenever you come across free sample offers? I had :) If you haven't, you may want to think about doing so, as there are a number of benefits to requesting free beauty samples.

One of the many benefits of requesting free beauty samples is that they are free (LOL). Many times, you don't even have to pay for the cost of shipping. When you look at it that way, what do you have to lose by requesting free beauty samples? In the past one month, I have been receiving free samples of mineral makeup and it's been a wonderful experience for me testing out which one works for me and which ones are not suitable.

Requesting for free samples helps to avoid making wrong decisions on your purchases. In other words, it saves you money in the long run.

my mineral makeup surprise package

Since I got my mineral makeup samples package from Erth some weeks back, I have never gone back to using my old loose or pressed powder. I never knew how natural I can look with mineral foundation - it is amazing. It did get a little messy initially as I was not used to the application style but after a few tries, it got easier and now, I won't use any other powder for my face!

Two days ago, Erth sent me another surprise package. It was a box full of mineral makeup and a couple of organic skincare for my review... I was delighted! I felt so touched by Vanessa's kind gesture for sending me these lovely Kabuki makeup brushes and makeup, she had done this to thank me for doing a review for her online store.

So ladies, if you haven't tried mineral makeup, you don't know what you are missing. Check out her site now.

all about beauty and appearance

A magazine article had reported that the beauty industry had grown in increasing measures in the last ten years. It went on to mention about the different plastic surgeries and slimming procedures that women had flocked into. Two of the more invasive ones were liposuction and tummy tuck which had helped some women to shed those unwanted fats in certain parts of their body.

Liposuction is not nearly as invasive as the tummy tuck procedure and the scarring is much more minimal than those from having a tummy tuck procedure completed. The recovery time from having liposuction done is sometimes only three to five days, with most people. All they have to do is make a few small incisions in your stomach, this is where they will place their surgical tubes that will be sucking out all of that unwanted fat that has been living in there for far too long, giving your stomach an unappealing appearance. With liposuction they will only be using local anesthetics during your procedure, which is another great benefit of choosing liposuction. There will be some left over skin after your liposuction is completed but that extra skin will literally shrink back to its normal appearance after the first couple of months or sooner.

Some people may not realize how major of a surgery tummy tuck really is. The recovery time for having a tummy tuck done is at least three or four months. The scars will be quite significant compared to those from liposuction. These scars will run from one of your hip bones all the way over to your other hip bone. They will fade quite a bit during that first year but it is normally still noticeable, if you do not wear the right bikini bottoms, that could cover up that area.

At the end of the day, no matter what surgery a woman chose - tummy tuck, liposuction or other kinds that concern the face like rhinoplasty, it is up to her and she has every right to make herself look good, so long she can afford the bill. Isn't it?

visit your dentist for good dental health

Are you afraid of the dentist? I am :P I don't like the sounds of the drilling and grinding of my teeth - yikes! But do you know that many of us have forgotten that we should visit the dentist regularly to keep that beautiful smile and maintain good dental health. You may think that brushing your teeth well is good enough but this is not necessary so. Having regular checks helps to ensure proper cleaning to prevent cavities and bad breath. So... will you mind the drilling and grinding for these good reasons?

do u use natural skin care?

Are natural skin care products the answer to all of our problems? Different people have different answers to these questions. However, the reality is that due to presence of synthetic preservatives, itís really tough to find a natural skin care product that is 100% natural. There are natural skin care products that have natural preservatives, but be prepared to pay more for these since they would have a shorter shelf life.

You should still take heed of the following recommendations even if you are using natural skin care:

• healthy eating habits (avoiding oily food)
• regular exercise, drinking a lot of water (8 glasses everyday)
• personal hygiene.

This will then form a perfect and completely natural skin care routine that will help maintain a healthy beautiful skin for longer time.

my mineral makeup review is up!

Last week, a package from the US came in the mail and I jumped up with joy when I opened it. In the box were many little jars of mineral makeup powders, sent to me by an online makeup site, Lush Erth, which specializes in pure mineral makeup. Well, I tried them on last weekend and did a review on it. Check out my mineral makeup review plus those fabulous brushes!

If you don't know what mineral makeup is, then you are definitely missing something here. They are affordable, natural, don't clog pores and create a radiant finish. Read it, buy it and try it to believe it!

perks of blogging

One of the nice perks of writing product reviews is that I get to receive nice samples from advertisers. 2 weeks ago, I received a couple of good quality makeup brushes from Erth Mineral Makeup, an online store that offers a good range of mineral makeup including foundation mineral powder, mineral eye shadow, mineral concealer and mineral blusher.

Erth Mineral makeup is 100% pure, crushed minerals which uses the finest ingredients and use no unnecessary fillers such as bismuth oxychloride and our cosmetics contain no nano-particles. In other words, you don't have to worry if you have dozed off to sleep with your makeup on!

The large collection of colours means you can find an appropriate colour that suits your complexion and skin tone. What is nice with mineral makeup is the natural finish of a non made-up look yet making you look radiant, fresh and beautiful. All Erth mineral makeup is naturally non-comedogenic and bacteria resistant which makes it great for those suffering from acne and rosacea.

Read about my Erth Mineral Makeup Brushes with a review on the mineral makeup coming soon! Any jeweler like to send me a sample for review? lol.

u don't need to be a celebrity

One of the most enjoyable times I had during my last trip to Singapore was the opportunity to have a casual dinner with Jill and my good friend, yarris. It was a girly outing so that was even nicer! Jill has been an image consultant in the last 23 years so she is really an expert when it comes to dressing right and image management. I enjoyed hearing her witty answers to beauty questions and there was so much knowledge in her.

We also had a conversation on los angeles plastic surgeon as I was keen to learn her views on plastic surgery and beauty. It is becoming such a common thing to hear about celebs going for plastic surgery and young women opting for aesthetic surgery to look like magazine models. To many, being beautiful means having perfect features - big eyes, long lashes, sharp face features, sharp noses, flawless skin and a proportionate face. One of the highlights in Hollywood is to talk about what is the best beverly hills plastic surgery where luxury and style can be displayed in every aspect of the center. From the interiors to the service, plus the sort of procedures available, it looks like Rodeo Drive is the talk among media and the rich and famous. Offering services from los angeles breast augmentation, liposuction, tummy tuck and their signature Mommy Makeover, it is a one-stop beauty place for those who can afford the luxury of Beverly Hills. Then again, you don't need to be a celebrity to patronize and in fact, everybody is treated like a celebrity at Rodeo Drive.

on beauty

Lately, I have been paying more attention on my colour scheme when it comes to dressing up. I guess I'm influenced by what I learned in the Image Asset management workshop conducted by Jill Lowe 2 weeks ago. Moreover, I will be conducting her workshop so I should take what she taught seriously.

One of the things I learned is that being beautiful is not about how expensive your clothes should be, what branded shoes you wore, how big that diamond ring is, what sort of makeup you use, how large those boobs are or how tall and slender you should look. I don't deny that I like designer stuff and would hop into designer sales every season. Like any other women, I would go for nice things, sparkling diamonds and flip the latest style magazines (when i find the time).

Many celebrities flock to los angeles plastic surgery to get those eyelids lifted, those botox injections, make the lips fuller or get a beverly hills liposuction to appear slimmer. I suppose they are also influenced by peers who shape those flat noses or schedule for a los angeles tummy tuck to fit in those skinny jeans. That's just a beauty culture in the entertainment industry.

I may be vain but honestly, I won't choose any of these surgeries cos I'm afraid of pain :) Besides, I believe in good diets, regular exercise and natural beauty. As much as I respect the vanities of some women, I wouldn't spend money to go through those painful procedures. The only thing I did that was close to fixing my face was to remove some moles on my face when I was in early 20s. That was also vanity... I was growing up. I do believe that the surgeries may be necessary for some women who need them to fix some facial disorders. Being women, our physical appearance does help to boost our confidence and self-esteem.

Anyone had any facial or beauty surgery before?

i bought my sexy sweep!

i
finally bought my sexy sweep last weekend. I have heard so much from denise and finally, I manage to visit the benefits counter at Parksons and true enough, I couldn't resist the cute packaging and interesting range of cool make up. Not only did I end up with sexy sweep, I bought the lip plumper. Not becos I want fuller lips but the colour was nice and lovely. Problem is the lip plumper is a giant stick which means I need to buy a special sharpener for it and know what, the sharpener costs RM50 at benefits counter!

Anyone knows of a place where I can buy giant sharpener for big pencils?

Fake that rosy glow!

My friend Denise who is a big fan of Benefit Cosmetics has been singing praises about Benetint, a light tint that gives cheeks and lips a rosy glow. She has been bugging me to order this together with her bulk purchase from the online store

This unique beauty product is 'kiss-proof' and water-proof, the sheer tint gives you an innocent, yet stylish glow that will make eyes turn! What a clever way to really fake it. This is a great 'pick me up' item to give that tired face a nice glow, especially if you are heading for that dinner date after work :)

Tips and tricks: Draw three small stripes across the apple of your cheek. Blend in a circular motion with fingertips. Apply benetint to lips with a clean q-tip... even after your lipstick wears off you'll still have a rosy glow!
