American idol says good bye to Kristy Lee Cook

So it's the end of the American Idol journey for Kristy Lee Cook, the country girl who sold her horse to pay her trip to the audition. I find very pretty - she has one of the most mesmerizing eyes, a charming smile and very silky long hair. But personally, I don't find her a strong singer, though I do like her. It was kinda expected that Brooke White, Syesha and Kristy Lee Cook were the bottom three again this week. I believe all three will be eventually eliminated and the attention will be casted on David Archuleta, Cook and perhaps Carly, if she doesn't mess up in a poor choice of song. But I seriously don't think she can beat the Davids.

The American Idol will be one show I won't miss in the next few weeks til the finale night. I'm one of those who look forward to hear Simon Cowell's comments and feedback every week, however sharp and merciless he is. But you see, the truth will set you free, right?

Praying for Time by Carrie Underwood

After watching the replay of Idol Gives Back this afternoon, I was drawn to play a part in a small way. Since I don't live in the US, the only way to donate is to download some songs in iTunes. Well, I went to Americanidol.com and was planning to do that but when it came to payment, I realized that my country was not listed in iTunes, this meant that I won't be able to purchase songs via iTunes. It was kinda sad for me cos I seriously loved the song, Praying for Time, sang by Carrie Underwood. She sang very well in the show and the words were truly meaningful too. So since I couldn't download from iTunes, I had gotten this from youtube. If you can, do download it at AmercianIdol.com

It's time to give back.

Idol Gives Back

Sometimes I really want to catch the full version of the American Idol but somehow, I have to prioritize and make way for more important things like putting Clayton to bed or finishing my work before bedtime. But for me, catching snippets of the show is good enough and this evening, I truly enjoyed part of the Idol Gives Back program.

It wasn't so much of the entertainment and celebs I enjoyed but the meaning and essence behind this idea of Idol Gives Back. It reminded me of how fortunate I have been and how I should do my part to reach out to the needy out there in whatever ways I can. The clips of those suffering in hunger and poverty makes my heart cry and once again, I felt guilty for the frequent complaints I had when things went wrong. These people have needs - real needs - that many of us will not experience in our lives.

The show ended with a beautiful song by Hillsongs. Shout to the Lord is one of my favourite songs and this song reminds me of how great He is and that He cares for every hungry soul out there tonight.

no queue for premium seats

Some people are totally ardent about football games and basketball matches. Looking back, I used to be one of those who love joining the crowd in big matches and cheering for my favourite teams. Though I haven't done that for a while, due to work and other commitments, I believe it's still good fun to be present for sport events played by my favourite players.

My cousins in California will make time to attend NBA Basketball games and from what they told us, Premium Seats USA is the place to get Miami Heat Tickets and other shows including Billy Joel's concert, The Police and other sports tournaments. They are the right people to buy your tickets from if you are after front row or premium seats and the cool thing is, you don't even have to join in the queue for those popular tickets.

Destination by YellowRen

It had been a long time since I visited Evangel family church again. Though I had left Evangel for 8 years to date, it still felt like home whenever I got a chance to worship in that church. I had grown up in Evangel and through in all, it will always be close to my heart.

It was nice to catch up over lunch with Pas Lim and Pas Marion, Pas Dale, Pas Chui, Pas Mong Yee and Dayna. Clayton found company with Joseph and I was at one point worried that he would get too rough with him.

Pas Mong Yee was gracious to give me the DVD of the Destination Tour produced by YellowRen, a trio made up of Dayna, Pas Mong Yee and Chee Kong. Listening to the CD always brings me memories of those days when I used to sing with Dayna and Pas Mong Yee. I didn't know I missed singing so much... it's been so long.

Destination is a great collection of gospel mandarin songs and you should check out the website for more info.

Take Home Chef

I don't watch much TV these days except for couple of Discovery Channel: Travel and Living shows. I like cook shows, esp the reality ones such as Be my guest. One of my favourite cook shows (besides Jamie Oliver's) is Surfing the Menu starring Curtis Stone and Ben Donohue... of course, Curtin remains my fave too! I just read that his new reality show, filmed in the US, Take Home Chef is premiering this friday - yay! This sounds like an interesting show displaying Curtis' creativity in whipping up a dish in a stranger's home. It will be fun to see how he cope with unsharpened knives, dirty pots, old ovens and the limited spices and ingredients in the house.

Doesn't he look cool?

celebrity gossip site

My male friends always comment that we women like to gossip. They tend to think that we are a bunch who like to shop, buy, compare and talk about hollywood gossip. Well, to be honest, I haven't had much time to dig into gossips and celebrity news but since there is a brand new site that talks about these, it will be great to read and find information.

I am attracted to the hot pink header - whoa! It is so appropriate - kudos to the designer. This site seems interesting as it allows the readers to vote on what is published. Other than that, you can share your opinions and leave comments on the gossips. This is sure to keep any woman occupied and busy. Better not let me hubby know this or else he's going to start the nagging again.

Bollywood or Hollywood?

Interestingly, I seem to have more friends who are fans of Bollywood than Hollywood. It sounds funny but it is true. And in case you think Indian Videos are favoured only by Indians, you are wrong!

My friend, Dexter loves Bollywood and actually, my husband loves watching Indian dance. I must definitely point Dexter to this niche youtube style of Indian video site. The videos in the collection include bollywood, music video, people, places and more. Like youtube, you can capture your own video, upload it and share it with family and friends. Actually, you may stand a chance to win a FREE iPod if your uploaded video becomes the most popular among the viewers.

You can embed it into your blog, post a link or choose your favourites. I took a quick look on the comedy videos and this one called Babby Drummer stood and it was cute!

The Police is here

There is something to win for USA Bloggers! Remember the song "Roxanne"? Anyway, there was my favourite when I was a teenager. Oh yes, the band who sang this song was The Police, a 3 piece rock band who became popular during the rock and punk music era.

With a reunion of the band this year, The Police will be going on a worldwide tour! I know someone who will be thrilled and excited to know about this, that is my close girl friend who uesd to go head over heels over the lead singer in the band, Sting.

There is only one reason why I want the police cd, that is for her cos she is a true fan who listened to their music everytime she went on board overseas, in her companion The Sony Walkman.

*this is not a sponsored post simply because I'm not a US blogger:)

The Ultimate Gift

If you are a movie goer, I would assume you have already heard about "The Ultimate Gift". Starred by Academy Award nominee Abigail Breslin, James Garner, Ali Hillis, Drew Fuller and Brian Dennehy, this is a special movie that has drawn much attention to its charity movements even before the launch of the movie.

This is the official site of the movie "The Ultimate Gift" and the grass-roots movement its starting to help charities and give to others. It all started out with a little big with a simple story but it has grown so big.

Look out for March 9th, 10th and 11th as the weekend screenings of The Ultimate Gift open, and you can play a part in raising donations for non-profit organizations – including the causes closest to your heart during this period. It is nice to know that you can be an inspiration and influence others to do the same by watching a movie.

Throughout this special “Weekend Of Giving”, $1.00 of every ticket purchased for The Ultimate Gift will be donated to the charitable group of your choice; this is a special partnership with the Fox Film Fund. This is also an opportunity to connect with family and friends through this powerful act of giving.

The website is filled with details about the movie, the movement, the story of how it began, the ways you can get involved and trailer of the movie. It is inspiring just to read about how this movement is touching lives and creating a good impact among teens and how this has created an awareness among young people. It is about educating this generation on the act of giving and sharing. I find it so noble and meaningful.

I encourage you to hop over to theultimategift.com and read all about the movie and all that is taking place in line with the launch of the screenings. Don't be left behind. Be a part of this special time of giving and sharing, and being an inspiration.

My 'say' on American Idol

Is anyone out there a fan of American Idol? Well, I won't say I am but I do enjoy watching snippets of it. Since becoming a mum, the pleasure of sitting in front of the TV is no longer a priority in the evenings. Clayton, my little angel determines the length of time I spent watching TV.

I was watching the Hollywood week yesterday and was quite upset with a couple of outcomes. How did Jarrod Fowler get sent home and this big guy, who went off tune in the high notes got into the next round? It was absurd! Then in today's show, the last 2 contestants (I forgot their names) were not chosen for the top 24 when they were the better ones. What's going on with these judges? Paula Abdul was 'being generous' for the whole time every season. It was plain annoying.
