I can only grow cactus!

Oh... that is a cool meme - Green Thumb Sunday! I learned it from Adam after reading about his basil, lavender and tomatoes - I'm envious! I tried planting all of these in my life time and didn't succeed for too long. Once, I smuggled a little Lavender plant from Melbourne. It did grow for 3 months but died after the Malaysia heat scorched it :(

So now, all I grow is Aloe Vera and cactus - not much maintenance needed, that's why :P I had great success with a garden full of sunflowers few years ago and that was a fulfilled dream I cherished til this day. I won't say I have green fingers but I do love to be around these creations from heaven above.

thank you, Adam!

This is a delayed post that I have been wanting to make to thank my blogging buddy, Adam, for awarding me with the Nitro T-shirt following from a contest at his Auto blog. Somehow, the sponsor had forgotten to send me the T-shirt even after some emails from Adam.

I told Adam not to worry about it but being a man of his word, he insisted in sending me one from his own collection. In the midst of getting his gift to me, the sponsor finally replied so I ended up with 2 T-shirts! Thanks, Adam - you are cool!

What an achievement! Read on!

I didn't believe this when I read this: A 14 year old boy from Philippines has a PR4 on his blog and he has known how to make money online? Huh, it got me thinking, what was I doing at 14 years old! i was too busy with making friends, school activites, having fun, maybe a vacation job was closest but with that vision, this guy must be something! So I check him out and my, was I impressed with his skillful writing and know what, not only does he have a PR4, his technorati ranking is less than 5K! Awesome! Well done, Carl.

If you are well impressed by this boy's achievement, hop over to his blog and find out more. And there is an extra bonus if you go a step further to check him out, that is, to write a review about him and he'll give you a linkback on his PR4 blog.

But seriously, even if there is no perk like this, I still would buzz this on my blog. I applaud you, Carl.... btw, I like mango shake and the BBQ chicken in Philippines, had visited Davao and Cebu way back in the 90s... maybe it's about time to drop by again :)

Shadowscope - a veteran blogger

I am reviewing this for Shadowscope, a veteran blogger since January 1999 (wow!) and a PPP postie too. I like to be honest here and this is just my personal opinion. I'm never a big fan of coloured text on dark background as it can be blinding visually if the text is too long. It does make the eyes tired after a while. As a designer, I will use light coloured text on dark background for short text or only if the typeface is larger in size. And somehow, sites with dark backgrounds tend to take a longer time to appear.

But I must say I like the author's hairstyle cos it resembles that of my husband :) This is a blog where the author shares about his family, friends, events, news around the web and some paid reviews. Being a long time blogger, you can learn much from the affiliated badges on the sidebar of the blog. I will be checking some of them out and perhaps link to some community sites and directories recommended. There is definitely lots to learn from someone who has been blogging for 8 years!!

Linky Love - Jacklyn Ker

I first met Jacklyn when Stuart, my good friend, also the internet marketing expert, was here for a workshop a month ago. Jacklyn was truly an inspiration. The night before I met her, I was on msn with Stuart and after reading her profile page (my favourite page whenever I blog walk), I couldn't wait to meet this lady.

This petite, soft-spoken lady had an inspiring story to tell and no one had told it better than herself in her blog. A while ago, I was reminded about being grateful of who I am and what I have, and how gratitude can affect our mind, heart, soul and entire wellbeing after reading one of her blog posts. I totally agree with her that"Being thankful takes away sorrow, regret, anguish, heartache, stress, worry, depression and fear."

Being grateful sets us free to achieve greater visions and dream bigger dreams. Most importantly, it releases the inner energy, health and beauty we all possess. As we embrace gratitude and thankfulness in our hearts, it reminds us of our Maker, and it leads us further to "attract the good things of this earth".

Learn SEO from a Singaporean Geek

My fellow Singaporean blogger friend, who is also residing in Malaysia sure has a lot to teach and share when it comes to Google Page Ranking and Alexa Score. What I find it useful is his post on how we should learn to thank our visitors when they take the time to drop by our blogs. Even it's a simple 'Thank You', it is a nice gesture that goes a long way.

I must say that SEO is more than just links, links and links. It's about putting in the effort to get to know others, learn about a new community, network with other bloggers and building a relationship.

Like to learn more about SEO from the geek himself, check it out here.

Linky Love - Jennifer

Being mom to one active two and a-half year old toddler can be fun, exciting, dramatic, stressful and a handful for me! So I wonder how young mom Jennifer can do so well two teenage girls and a teenage stepson. Her new blog talks about the 'colours' in her life and how she deals with every life challenge and opportunity. I can see the Jennifer loves kittens because she has not one but four of them! Reading her profile, I know she's a heart-warming person with a strong personality. How about dropping her new blog and get to know her more?

Nitro T-shirt contest

Would you like to win a T-shirt by simply writing a short post on Dodge Nitro?

My blogging buddy, Adam, is running an interesting contest in his Auto Blog. Stand a chance to win one of these two Dodge Nitro "Can" t-shirts: one red with long sleeves and another black with short sleeve.

The contest will end on the 25th of March 2007.

Read more about the rules and details here.

No average mom

This link love is for my blogging friend, Snuzulooz who has a nice mommy blog where she shares her stories about motherhood. Read about her fun times, happy times, challenging days and rambling moments.

Also drop by her other blog where you find "Blunt Talking and Straight Shooting".

New Tech Blog for your reference

My postie friend, Jimi, started a new tech blog: JMH Techtronics. If you are like me with little knowledge on techie stuff, this would be a great resource to browse and learn a tip or two. In his post on Link and Blog Challenge, Jimi mentioned that "Getting links is great, but getting them from common keywords, and relevant blogs is much better." This is good knowledge for me which means I should focus more on keywords when it comes to any link exchange. Like to know more about this post, hop over to Jimi's.

Link Love - Skeet

I make many friends in the PayPerPost forum and one of them, whom I really like, is Auntie Skeet. Skeet is single, own a small termite inspection business and live on the Leeward Coast of Oahu, Hawaii. I thought this must be an interesting profession for a lady! Skeet's got a new blog. It's one where she moved from her previous blogspot and now, she's owned her domain. So do drop by and get to know her better. And if you are travelling to Hawaii, she might be able to give you a tip or two. She's promised to babysit Clayton if we confirm our vacation to Hawaii. Yeah, she's nice.

Coby and Bucket O'Bulletz

I like Suni. I just learnt that she has a dog, Coby who loves pizza! The Coby Chronicles: It's a Dog life is all about Suni's daily experiences and observations with her friend, Coby. The stories are vividly told and as I read the posts, I feel like I'm getting to know Coby too. And if you are a dog or pet lover, you may like to join Suni in her Carnival of the Dogs.

Suni also writes Bucket O' Bulletz where she records her findings, stories, articles and everything else that interests her. So go get to know Suni more and you may also like to know that she's got an awesome voice. This is one talented and helpful lady whom I like to know better.

Internet. Serious Business.

There have been a series of hiccups in the last few days with PPP segmentation. Errors here, errors there... wrong host name, can't see opps, opps in red/pink, wrong PR... etc.

But amidst these unhappy sentiments, I am happy to know some nice posties and I would like to introduce one of them here. Jimi Morrison who writes "Internet. Serious Business." is for a moment a serious guy to me, but he truly isn't. His article "Those who think they are grammar police, but wrong" reminds me of a couple of occasions where I would be highlighted for little mistakes I make in conversations or writings. And these 'commenters' would end up being wrong themselves!

Hop over to Jimi's and I'm sure you will enjoy his posts on things happening on the internet. And you will soon find out why internet is a serious business too.

Links, Links, Links...

This Page Rank issue has been discussed so often among bloggers. For those who do not know, one of the best ways to increase your PR is to have others linking to your sites and posts. My friend, Adam, who just won the SEO challenged tagged me with this interesting way to help increase you blog's PR.

**Instructions**

Write a post, and copy and paste my list from below into it. Make sure the links are active and correct. If your blog is on that list, remove it because your post isn’t about self-promotion. Don’t worry, because if your name is on mine, it’s on others and will spread. Add your favourite deserving blogs to the top of the list (not compulsory). Publish the post. People will notice the incoming links, and hopefully write their own z-list posts. The result will be that we all get more links pointing to our blogs, and more readers - got to be good!

Key Points
1) Create a new post on your blog.
2) Copy and Paste the entire list of blog links below
3) Add any blogs that you want to include near the top of the list. (Optional)
4) Include the blog where you first got the list from, on the list in your post.
5) Do not include your own blog links on the list in your post.
6) Make sure that all links are copied intact.
7) Publish the Post.

Link Love - Cass

I don't know of many Christian bloggers in the blog-o-sphere except my good friend, Tracy. Recently, one of my friends from PPP, Cass, brought to my attention about The Carnival of the Redeemed. This Carnival will celebrate Brothers and Sisters in Christ. It doesn't have to be religious in nature, but need to related to your walk with Christ.

Cass is a mother of 8 and she has 5 blogs in her portfolio right now. This is amazing!

Check out her blogs at:

Link Love

I've never been to Germany but have heard nice things about this country. Couple of weeks ago, I was doing some blog hopping and stumbled upon some lovely photos taken by Army Mom, Charlotte. Her daughter is currently deployed to Iraq until October 2007.

Hunnagirl has an interesting question for me to ponder, "How Would You Spend $100 If You Just Found It?" Read about her observations and opinions on life discoveries.

Lisa has a new blog! She is also an expectant mother so do drop by her blog and leave her some nice notes.

For the latest internet and web2.0 news, check out Ezyweb's blog. It aims to expose new and exciting web sites and apps to the rest of the world. I like the colour scheme and icons on the header - nice blog!

Link Love for Adam

Everyday I'm 'meeting' people over the internet and thanks to myBlogLog, I can even know who's reading my blogs. This adds alot more excitement to blogging these days. I also enjoy leaving comments to what I read in interesting posts by fellow bloggers. I mean, if you want others to read yours, you should also start to read others.

I came to know Adam, an Asian who lives in the UK via PayPerPost forum and he is one friendly and helpful guy. I was first attracted to his blog name - it was so Asian! Adam also writes http://autolah.blogspot.com.

Ok.. head down to check out Adam's blogs and don't forget to leave him a comment too!

Link Love Day

I'm sending some link love today:

Amy , a fellow postie, shares stories of her everyday life and experiences in her blog. She is a pretty mom with 3 children and we both share the same favourite book of the Bible, Proverbs. I hope she's feeling better and the headache had ditched her.

This is one blog you need to check out by Colleen, another postie I just got to know. Not only is she the top earner at PayPerPost, she, plus few others are committed to walking 60 miles over the course of three days - not to mention each of them has to raise at least $2200 to support their cause. I really like the illustrative header in her blog.

In 'simple kind of life', she shares her everyday life's stories involving her family and friend. Again, I like the header. I'm still trying to figure out what fonts she used, it is so familiar. I study typography in my postgraduate so I can't help it but notice this!
